I was in the process of enabling looker reports on Looker (Google Cloud core) by following these instructions Enabling and disabling Looker reports | Google Cloud Documentation but it seems that system /feature is not available any longer after December 4 2025 - why is this?

This isn’t a bug or missing permission. Google has intentionally removed the ability to enable Looker Reports for new or previously un-enabled instances after December 4, 2025.
According to the Looker documentation, only instances that already had Looker Reports enabled before that date can continue using it. For all others, the system/feature toggle is no longer available. This effectively sunsets the onboarding path for Looker Reports, which was a preview / limited-availability feature.
If your instance didn’t have Looker Reports enabled before the cutoff, there’s currently no supported way to turn it on. The recommended alternatives are Looker dashboards with scheduled deliveries or newer reporting workflows in Looker Core / Looker Studio.
