I am happy to share my first Itch release, Animated East. This is a free software synthesizer plugin for mac (VST3 / AU) and Windows (VST3). I have tested it in Bitwig, Ableton, Reaper, and Logic (and I suspect it works in all DAW's that support VST3 or AU).

Animated East features a 3D navigable tunnel level with synth modules arranged from the front of the tunnel to the back. I wanted to create a plugin that encourages moving slowly and exploring sound design. Every parameter features 3D visualizations, and I have included quite a bit of randomization (drift, random patch generation) as well. Other features include microtuning, drag-and-drop modulation for three sources on nearly every parameter, per-voice-panning, and an LFO that reaches audio rates.

I like using the instrument for designing weird modulated pads, drums, and nature sounds. Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy!

Hey everyone,

My name is Erik and I spent over ten years composing for film, games, and podcasts. After the Hollywood writer's strike I wasn't sure what the future held for me in music, so I started teaching myself C++ to see if I could make a plugin. I am now getting ready to share my first instrument, a free 3D exploratory synthesizer that merges elements of many of my favorite synths.

My goal was to make something exploratory and intuitive for users, and I wanted to combine the freedom of playing with hardware instruments and the accessibility of software. It took me years of music making to understand the purpose of common modules like lfos, so I designed this instrument with lots of visual feedback to help these concepts click.

Some of my favorite features are:

-Drag-and-drop mod (LFO, ADSR, looping AR envelope) on just about every parameter.

-LFO rate extends to audio range (FM / AM).

-One-click random patch generation.

-Drift controls on most modules for adding organic parameter variation.

-Per-voice-panning (with mod on each pan slider as well).
