Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings using a computer
Erase your device and install the latest software using a computer. This factory restore removes all information and settings from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
Prepare your device
Update your Mac or PC.
Go to Settings.
Tap [Your Name].
Tap Find My.
Tap Find My [device].
Turn Find My [device] off.
Enter your Apple Account password.
Tap the done button
on your keyboard.
Restore your device to factory settings
Connect your device to your computer.
If you see the "Allow accessory to connect?" alert on your computer, click Allow.
Open the Finder on Mac or the Apple Devices app on a PC. Find out which macOS your Mac is using.
Select your device when it appears on your computer.
If a message asks for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer, follow the onscreen steps. If you forgot your passcode, get help.
Click Restore [device] on your computer*. Ensure that you have turned off Find My, as described above.
Click Restore to confirm. Your computer erases your device and installs the latest iOS, iPadOS, or iPod software.
Once the restore process finishes, the Hello screen will appear on your device.
* Restoring an iPhone doesn't delete your eSIM. If you need to erase your eSIM, learn how to erase it.
