Am facing an issue when trying to sign in to my new visual studio installation with my github account. The integration between visual studio community edition and github doesnt seem to be working and I am getting this error (there are bunch of errors that keep popping up like this..
An error has occurred in the script on this page
URL: https://github.githubassets.com/assets/environment-bootstrap-0b18da31.js
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

after clicking few such popups , i get the login screen of github .. after i enter the username and password, it asks me to authorize microsoft-corp (formatting is malfunctioning in that page, i guess, because of the script misfires).. once i say ok, then i get a Sorry, the server cannot be connected message and the signin doesnt happen.

Could you please check and let me know what is a good solution to get past this issue? thanks

Yes, kind of. VS started prompting me that trial was ended, and i'm still unable to sign in via githubs OAuth, however, after you enter your e-mail address, you are prompted to be redirected to the github OAuth login. DON'T. Instead choose the option to request a single use code to be sent to your e-mail. This way you can avoid the .js errors of logging in via OAuth.

I hope this works as a temporary fix.

Thanks paddywaan.

I ended up changing the authentication method in the Microsoft account. That way I was able to bypass the Github SSO and sign in a different way.

This method worked for me: Go to tools, options, choose accounts. On the sign-in options, select to use the option "System web browser" instead of "Embedded web browser" to add and re-authenticate accounts.
You can also access this option by selecting account options from the Sign-In / Log-in page.
After changing to system browser, try signing up or logging in again. It will redirect you to your desktop web browser from which you can complete your registration.

Hi @rub8n,

Do you know if this issue is being tracked on the Microsoft side? It isn't related to the GitHub for Visual Studio extension.

Switching to "System web browser", as BigOine mentioned, also helped me when experiencing this issue
