For the IoT security practitioner, it is essential to understand what events are occurring within the systems you're responsible for. Being able to see when users log into devices or services and when they fail a login are important for security practitioners. Effective security logging and monitoring will enable you to know immediately when there are cybersecurity events that require your attention and to quickly understand what is happening on your IoT system. Hardware and software products typically provide a logging mechanism that uses a standard format such as SIS Log. IoT products may provide some event data through representational state transfer APIs or REST APIs. Whatever methods are used, event data should be provided in a format that can be parsed by machines and easily understood by humans.
