Preparing for threats
- [Instructor] Even with strong security habits, no system is 100% safe. Devices can fail, accounts can get compromised, and sometimes, despite our best efforts, things go wrong. That's why preparation is just as important as prevention. In this lesson, we'll explore how to evaluate risk and build a plan for when something goes wrong. The first step is understanding what's at stake. Ask yourself, what data is most valuable to me or my team? What would happen if I lost access to it? And what would be the impact if it got exposed to the wrong person? This helps you identify what's worth protecting and what needs a backup or safety net. One of the simplest and most powerful ways to prepare is by creating regular backups. Back up important files to the cloud, and ideally, to an external hard drive as well. Follow the 3-2-1 rule.
