I appreciate that OpenBOM gives us the opportunity to effectively create and update BOMs for projects without parts falling between chairs and that it's helpful for creating part lists for kits or separate assemblies. The extraction of CAD data is a big plus as it saves a lot of time. I find it really useful for structuring information in easy-to-use and edit forms. 1. For some reason it stopped saving drawings and I am working out the issue with the support team. 2. Sometimes it doesn't extract pictures. 3. Sometimes it compiles BOMs into Excel with half of my chosen properties missing. 4. It doesn't have a 'Collapse all' function. 5. I would be glad to have a 'Generate part number' function that allows linking a duplicated BOM to a new assembly without loading it to OpenBOM. I like the cloud-based BOM management and direct CAD integration the most, as they provide real-time updates, revision control, and a single shared BOM, making collaboration much easier and reducing manual work. Cloud-based BOM management ensures that everyone on the team always sees the latest data, avoiding mistakes from outdated files. I really like that once its setup others without CAD licenses can get models and drawings for reference quicker than asking me. I am not the main user at my company for OpenBOM so I'm still not confident on setup and navigation. there is still some work involved in setup per assembly and it does seem to have to be looked over to confirm its not counting any extra parts. cool thing is that once it is setup it seems to be pretty robust to quickly update when changes are made to CAD. just need to get over the initial setup hump. OpenBOM has been a great way to organize all of our parts, assemblies, and drawings. It's super useful to have all of that information in one place, and have it be easy to search through. It's also a great way to link the engineering department and the purchasing department. It has installed as plugin within fusion app that it saves significant time, as i no need to launch another application, minimizes errors, and fosters effective teamwork. Features like the part catalog, repetitive usage options, pricing details, division tracking and cloud accessibility makes it one ideal piece of cake in your design software environment. OpenBOM offers some powerful features but there are some limitations. I didn't like user interface personally as it feels clunky and outdated, that feels boring. It also not easy to learn and master quickly, as well with its limited headsup resources, makes it quite challenging to implement it 100%. Also, their pricing model is unclear, making it less accessible for smaller teams or startups and makes them to think again before purchase. The lack of a compatible mobile app or web based experience is another limitation, as some users might often need to access and keep track of their data on the go. I find the overall user interface of OpenBOM could be improved. One of the well planned online tool where companies can effectively manage all their product information in this platform, it has really kept our design, manufacturing, and the supply chain connected., allowing teams to collaborate easily on everything from prototypes to final production. In my opinion we felt quite difficult to get adapted, specially when we wanted to integrate OpenBom with our companies ERP.
