- So how would you go about assessing the statistics presented by your well-intentioned, but clearly advocating Portland manager? A good starting point is a closer look at the underlying data. You can find this in exercise file 07_03. The manager was very specific about dates. Although the store opened in January, she mentioned 16 months of growth. This seems like a red flag that maybe the data that was selected was more cherry-picked, and if you look at the spreadsheet, you notice you have financial information dating back to the opening of the store.
