Types of data sources
- [Instructor] In today's world, data is everywhere, and our aim in this chapter is to decide what to collect and how to collect it. So first things first, let's think about what kind of data sources we have available to us and some examples of each kind. Remember, this is not an exhaustive list. There will be data in your environments that I don't specifically mention in this course that will be really useful to collect and involve in your strategy. The first type of data for us to consider is structured data. As you can perhaps guess from the title, this is data that is already structured into rows and columns. This could be stored within spreadsheets or databases. Some examples of structured data sources to consider would be customer relationship management, or CRM systems, enterprise resource planning, or ERP systems, and other transactional databases, such as those using MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server to store data.
