Framing the conversation with positivity
- [Instructor] With framing, what we're doing is we are sharing the storyline for the conversation. We're clearly articulating why we're having the conversation and what we hope to accomplish during the conversation. Your goal here is to frame the conversation as positively as possible. You should use framing early and often during these conversations. So before the conversation starts, you want to state your frame positively and in a productive way. Then if the conversation starts to get a little bit heated, that's when you restate the positive frame to remind them your goal and the purpose of the conversation. And then after the conversation is done, you want to restate the frame and show appreciation after the fact. In framing a conversation, we're answering the following questions. Why are we here?
