- [Narrator] It's worth taking a step back, and looking at how we get observability more broadly. Insights into the run-time behavior of our applications. Understanding how your application is actually functioning in production is one of the most important aspects of maintaining secure and reliable systems. The more insights you have, the faster you can catch both performance issues, as well as suspicious behavior that may indicate an attack. The first and most foundational layer for most organizations is container logs. Getting access to container logs usually involves collecting the standard output and error logs from your containers, and reviewing them for signs of failure, unexpected behavior, or performance degradation. These logs often include messages from the application itself, as well as from the underlying system processes, and can give you a basic picture of how things are performing.
