The learning ecosystem
- Until recently, most of our data about the workforce and learning has been isolated to individual platforms. The human resources information system or HRIS would hold, say, employee data about salary goals and org charts while a learning management system would track all learning events like course completions and tests. Now, fast forward to today, and there are all sorts of new technologies and platforms built to improve or track all aspects of working careers. These include talent marketplaces, customer relationship management systems, and more. As these systems can share data, it opens up lots of new opportunities for how we upskill. There are two main things to consider when thinking about the learning ecosystem: one, how data triangulation will provide insights on what is working and what is not, and two, how interconnected systems allow for better learning experience design.
