Introduction to 5G network performance metrics

(bright calm music) - [Presenter] Have you ever been frustrated when a call won't connect or a video keeps buffering? What you're experiencing is a network that is failing its performance checkup. In this video, we are going to give you a high level tour of the key performance indicators that engineers use to measure a 5G network's health. First, let's look at the bigger picture with the five key KPIs. The most fundamental KPI is accessibility. This is all about the initial connection. Accessibility measures the network's ability to even get you connected when you request a service, and it could be like making a call or starting a data session. Think of it as the network answering the door when you knock on it. The second KPI is retainability. Once you are connected, you need to stay connected. Retainability ensures your service remains stable and doesn't drop unexpectedly. The third crucial indicator is mobility. We uses our phone on the go and the network needs to keep up. Mobility measures the network's ability to provide a seamless experience as we move between cell towers. Our fourth KPI is integrity. This one is all about quality. Integrity measures factors like data speed and latency to ensure you are getting a good experience. Finally, we have availability. This is a big picture metric. It simply tracks whether the network infrastructure is operational and ready for you to use. In nutshell, we have five key pillars of strong 5G network, which are accessibility, retainability, mobility, integrity, and availability. Remember this overview because in our next session, we'll be focusing exclusively on the first pillar, which is accessibility. You will learn the specific technical metrics, like RRC connection, set up success rate that defines accessibility and ensure your device can even get a foot in the door.
