Preamble formats sequence
(gentle music) - [Instructor] In 5G, the preamble format sequence is based on a Zadoff-Chu sequence and is categorized into long and short preambles. A Zadoff-Chu sequence is a complex valued mathematical sequence used in 5G for initial synchronization and for random access procedure. Now, the sequence consists of three main parts. One is the preamble sequence, which is the core of the signal, which is used for identification and for synchronization purpose. Another part is the cyclic prefix, which protects against inter-symbol interference caused by multi-path propagation over the air interface. Both these CP and sequence makes a preamble. We have another part, which is very important, is the guard period, which prevents the preamble from overlapping with other uplink transmissions. Now, there are two preamble formats we talked about.
