- [Instructor] When you build charts inside of Excel, they live in Excel and they're connected to the data inside that Excel file. But more often than not, we need to put those charts inside of things like Word documents or even PowerPoint. This is why it's important to know how Microsoft Office leverages linking and embedding information. This data is in this workbook and it originates from other places, but for this particular file, the data we have here isn't linked anywhere else. It literally lives inside this spreadsheet. Let me show you what I mean. Let's go take a look at the PO by customers over 55. And if I choose the count of POs, you'll notice that this pie chart is linked to the data that's highlighted to the left of it. That means for this pie chart to change, the sales that it's linked to must be updated or changed.
