- [Instructor] MIDI effects can alter and shape the way a software instrument will respond to MIDI information from your controller. They look and function exactly the same as audio effects plugins on your channel strip, except they process the MIDI information sent to the channel strip. MainStage offers nine types of MIDI effects. There's an arpeggiator, a core trigger, a modifier, a modulator, a note repeater, a randomizer, a scripter, a transposer, and a velocity processor. Over here in audio units, you'll see any third-party MIDI effects that are located on your computer. Let's take a look at each one of these MIDI effects very briefly. The arpeggiator's origins date back to the beginning of electronic music. The concept is simple.
